It sounds good, but the emotions are all wrong.
I know he’s covering Pearl Jam’s version, but they were doing a cover of it too:

Dang i didn’t know the dude could sing like that.
Vibrato is a very generous way to describe that goat noise he’s making.
1:15 he definately goofed up and said “The bustin tires, the screamin glass”. You can tell he was aware of the mistake because the second part he completely mumbles.
I still haven’t figured out the appeal of Post Malone.
When you drive over the rumble strip.
Honestly he’s someone I couldn’t stand at first but had slowly grown on me the more I’ve seen him
Great song. Easy guitar song to learn if you’re beginning to learn guitar.
I really don’t understand why Post insists on using pitch correction when he covers rock songs like this. Maybe it’s not his idea and I know he’s a pitchy singer in general, but good god man, you’re singing a song by a grunge band, you can be a little pitchy! It just sounds ridiculous hearing how strong the pitch correction is on a alt rock cover of a 60s doo-wop ballad. It clashes so much.
Why does reddit hate Post so much, it feels like an echochamber. Just go engage with his discography once please
**In this thread:** People who have never heard Pearl Jam’s cover or the original commenting about “weird” vibrato. There’s a reason Post Malone is singing this song, and it’s because he’s already good at caprino, he uses it in like all of his songs lol. On his albums it’s obviously exaggerated with autotune for artistic effect.
this is so bad lmao
Is he using autotune in a live setting? Is this a thing now?
Nothing like a new version to remind me how much more I like the Pearl Jam version
I can appreciate the attempt.
I’m not a Post Malone fan, but I respect his talent. Plus, he’s just an overall nice guy from what I’ve seen.
Wayne Cochran was the original artist in 1961, then J. Frank Wilson and Cavaliers also ran with it. The song was even translated to Spanish as “El Último Beso” in 1965 which was covered by even more singers and bands. I remember it being sang on a Tejano (Tex-Mex) album by Ram Herrera in 1987. It made its rounds before being on a Pearl Jam album. Emotionally strong lyrics.
It’s not a Pearl Jam song, in case anyone was wondering. They covered it.
Honestly this sounds pretty bad to me. Not saying he’s not talented or whatever, I’m sure he’s great. Just, this doesn’t sound good at all.
Post needs to do more of this and less of the pop industry breed shit
Damn, needs auto tune live? No kidding
Man this is such a great song…when sung by Eddie Vedder.
This is… not great. The Eddie Vedder/PJ versions is definitely my fave but something about the older versions like J Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers version or the original Wayne Cochran version is just…. *chefs kiss*
Back when he was first getting big I watched a video of him and his crew walking into an expensive guitar store and him trying out guitars. IIRC in that video he could barely play the guitar. He sounded really bad. Good to see he has kept at it.
J Frank Wilson cover
Every comment about Post Malone is always the same. “I didn’t like him at first but” like Jesus these have been said for years now about this guy. We get it.
autotune as obvious as all get out. Makes it unlistenable to me.
Ban autotune.
this sucks ass
This isn’t good. 🤷🏽
I’m glad Post is going back to his roots after selling out with the rap game to get his name out there.
Can that even be called a vibrato? He’s yodeling
I really tried for awhile to give Post Malone a fair shake. Wasn’t a big fan of his stuff, but I wanted to like him as a celebrity. Then I listened to his interview with Howard Stern and I lost a lot of respect for him. He seemed completely unable to form a complete thought. It was a long interview and I felt like he said a lot of words, but he had no substance at all. It was hard to get through the entire thing.
Pearl Jam covered Last Kiss. It was originally done by Wayne Cochran in 1961.
Be a lot cooler without auto tune
What’s with the billy goat warble
