God I miss biggie size, and when they used to hand make their chicken breasts each morning, and of course salad bar. Now they use those crap pre-made chicken breasts, and the fresh taste like crap when they used to be as good as McDonalds when they did the beef soak back in the day.
Fast food just started the change to menu item cash registers right about then. Prior to that, cashiers needed to know most of the prices, hand add the receipt, and use one of the cheat cards to calculate the taxes and add that on to the total.
Thanks for posting. It made me smile. 1980 I was managing a Wendy’s in New Orleans. My future wife, whom I’d yet to meet, was managing her own store in Orlando. By the time we met in 1984 she was still with Wendy’s in Orlando, but, I had changed teams and was working for Burger King. The first time I saw her she was in that uniform. I can still smell the wonderfully greasy hamburgers she served me when I came to visit her store.
She passed away last September. You just made my evening.
Back in mid 80s I hit the salad bar just about every other day! Even then, I remember thinking this has got to be a money loser for them, but damn they were good!
What do y’all think those models are doing now?

They should have a month for retro packaging at the stores.
I’m so sorry to all those who had to wear these. I understand if you still have PTSD.
Simpler times. Give me a Wendy’s salad bar and a seat in the sunroom and I’m golden
When Dave was alive, Wendy’s was damn near delectable!
Superbar was amazing circa 1989/1990
Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, can I take your order?
Where’s the beef
Budget Ted Danson and Shelley Long
I know it’s a promo picture but no one in their right mind would pack the to go bag like that.

Their chili is like a sourdough starter – they just add new ingredients to what’s left from the old batch and Bob’s your uncle.
I bet you could order a chili tonight that could trace its lineage to that pictured bowl.
Surprisingly stand-out chili for a fast food joint!
I can smell this picture.
Wendy’s used to have the most distinct smell. A really good one. It was probably the sweet bread they used and the beef cooking, I don’t know.
Wendy’s back in the day was awesome.
They used to have the best chicken sandwich.
Used to.
remember when Wendy’s had a salad bar? that was awesome.
God I miss the 80s.
Back when the food was actually lit

Back before they changed their fries and meal sizes. I wish there was a throwback Wendy’s cause I would live there.
I miss old Wendy’s fries. They were so much better.
It’s a little known fact that this uniform inspired the look for the popular series ‘Peaky Blinders’.
Look at the size of those burgers. 2-3x the size you get for 8x the price today.
Those hats, man.
Is that Marc Summers?
