I had no idea what to expect but this was not it. I cannot wait to see this. Some of the visuals are giving me Gondry/Kaufman vibes and I’m very intrigued to see what Aster does with them.
Ari Aster love to tip the hat for the classics, as it was to Rosemary Baby and The Wicker Man. Are you guys seeing anything here? besides the clear Wiz of Oz?
Rarely has a trailer left me so baffled yet so curious. Looks visually off the wall and very different to anything I’ve seen of Aster beforehand (seen his short films too).
This looks like Ari Aster is doing a Charlie Kaufman script – the aesthetic reminds me of Eternal Sunshine, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, and Synecdoche, New York. A marriage made in heaven for me.
I barely ever watch movies, but follow this sub to watch trailers and read y’all’s insights from time to time.
Speaking from someone who doesn’t really know any of these actors or directors or movies in general, this looks like what it would be like to have dementia… From the opening scene where he is transformed into a little boy for a moment, to no one wanting him to leave, getting hit by a car, everything looking confusing and cartoonish…
In theaters April 21

Seems like a literal trip. There are some images here I rather would have not seen beforehand!
Although more of a comedy, this is Ari Aster for sure. The screaming is there.
Oh Ari, fuck me up daddy.
Is Nathan Lane going to be the bad guy in a horror movie? Hell yeah
Even Beau is Afraid
My disappointment is immeasurable and my boulevard is broken.
This looks fucking incredible.
Yup, consider me confused.
Can’t wait to see it.
This is Ari Aster’s, Synecdoche New York.
Saw some horror, comedy? adventure stuff. Looks like it won’t be for everyone but I’m all in!
Nice use of the song “Goodbye Strangers” by Supertramp.
I haven’t heard that song since William H Macy walked into a bar in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia.

A horror adventure from Ari Aster. Please take all the money.

This feels Kaufmanesque
Almost as afraid as Beau after this
Looks like a Charlie Kaufman movie
I still don’t know what this is about but Aster and Phoenix on the bill is something I will immediately watch.
As someone who read the synopsis of the 2014 script, this doesn’t even begin to touch on how fucking weird it gets.
We’re in for one hell of a ride boys.
This looks outstanding.
This is gonna be the most controversial and polarizing film of 2023. And hopefully it’ll be the most demented film any of us will ever see.
Ctrl F Charlie Kaufman
This looks Fun.
I’ve been looking forward to this for a while now. The trailer looks so good! Can’t wait
No, I am afraid
What the fuck was that?
I’m sold.
Gives me some I’m Thinking of Ending Things vibes. Super on board.
They had me at “O’Loha – The best of Hawaii and Ireland”
Looks insane, literally use any frame from this trailer as the poster for the movie other than the godawful poster they gave it.
This looks way more in line with his short film Munchausen.
Rarely has a trailer left me so baffled yet so curious. Looks visually off the wall and very different to anything I’ve seen of Aster beforehand (seen his short films too).
Let’s fucking go
I’m gonna watch this one high as fuck.

The Psychotic Life of Walter Mitty
This is strange. I love Aster and this feels very different then his previous works. I am really excited to see what he has brought onto the table!
The Wizard of Oz on acid
I need to watch more A24 movies.

Just my 2¢, but I wanna see it!
I have full trust in Ari Aster and am very much looking forward for this movie to haunt me for months.
Evil Dead Rise and Beau Is Afraid both coming out on April 21… I know what I’m doing all day!
