’86 was such a rad year for music and culture for us New Wavers and Ska fans. I actually had a fake ID so that I could get into an amazing alt dance club in Raleigh North Carolina… I had maybe 4 wine coolers (hardcore) in 2 years. I just wanted to dance, usually by myself. When I turned 21 I handed the door guy my actual ID and he just gave me a long look and a Well Jesus Christ.
Edit: I grew up in Utah and was stationed at Ft Bragg, traveled the 60 miles up to Raleigh as many weekends as a possibly could, wearing out my Devo, Oingo Boingo and Depeche Mode cassettes making the trip back and forth.
Y’all look like my kind of people, at the very least with music taste. PiL and Siouxsie are two of my favorite groups of all time. Wish I could have been around in their heyday
