I got to see her Porsche in person years ago when my local art museum had a Porsche exhibit; I’m not into cars at all and luckily the car was not in the paid exhibit but in the main building. It was so neat to be able to get up close and see the detail.
The art work looked like Peter Max but I’m not sure if it was or not. I saw it at the R&R Hall of Fame and it’s phenomenal. So insanely cool to think of Janis just tooling around town in it.
Hey, it’s that place in the presidio. Love that place. Used to go there on trips when I was kid and last time I was there in 2019 someone was getting married.
this car is not far from where is live. The current owner is one of the heirs to Johnson and Johnson, and its in the Kalamazoo/Battle creek area. I’ve heard rumors that it gets driven in the Gun Lake area on nice days.
She was not willing to pay for a Benz.
Wanted a free one.

I think it’s currently at the RnR hall of fame.. Edit: As several people have pointed out – it has traveled around..
25 going on 62
I saw that car in or near the lobby of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame years ago.
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends
So Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

I used to have a 356B beater. Drove it daily for a few years. Great car.

What’s it called again? It’s a museum right?
Fun fact: the price asked by the artist, Tim Hall, was $3,500, a huge amount for 1968, and actually more than the cost of the car itself
If Ozzy Ozbourne was the Prince of Rainbows.
not a benz. Hmm
The building behind her is what was left from the SF Worlds Fair.
San Francisco. I know that exact location.
I was just at the Palace of Fine Arts for the first time this weekend. Weird to see it show up here.
A fan and collector (who does not own this car) currently has the Texas vanity plate VAN 990. I think it’s on a van/bus.
Is car still around?
I’m from the area she grew up in. Museum of the Gulf Coast still has some of her stuff I believe, but I haven’t been in a long time.
That sidewalk was literally my route to school every day for 5 years. It’s Interesting which people have walked the same ground as you.
My first LP from Columbia Record club “Pearl”

In front of the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, CA

I proposed to my wife there at The Palace of Fine Arts. Love that place!

I thought she wanted a Mercedes-Benz
Who ever painted it did a good job
Looks like she made amends
*that is not a Mercedes Benz
Sleep in the stars…
I hate how whenever there’s a post about Janice on Reddit so many people focus on her looks. Why can’t y’all be normal? Also, sick ride
I moved to San Francisco earlier this year. I really like the place. And am excited to recognize the Palace of Fine Arts in this photo!
No one will ever be able to sing like her.. Her heart came out her throat.
Two Classics
Same energy as a rapper w custom paint job on their Lambo:)
What? Where’s the Mercedes Benz? Her friends are the ones with Porsches. I guess she didn’t make amends.
I can’t help feeling sorry her any time I see a picture of her. Her and Amy Winehouse. Couldn’t translate success into happiness.
Janis was dope. Died too young
Yeh, I would see this car and think, “This is a car Janis Joplin would own.”
