Such a great song! I remember this playing constantly in my parent’s car as a kid.
Love me summa that disco, y’all…🕺🏻
This song is tied to one of my favorite memories with my brother who passed away in 2009. He had packed his 3 sisters into the car to drive to a special store that carried American products (we lived in Brussels at the time). We were listening to AFN and this song came on. Next thing we know he is bellowing out the window “I got my sisters with me.” Myself and my 2 younger sisters starting yelling “we are Family” and laughing so hard eventually none of us could breathe. Every time I hear it on the radio these days it brings a tear to my eye.
Video never did justice to the song. But man. I remember every time it came on we all did just what they did in the video.
I was 16 when this came out. At the time I was listening (still do) to The Doors, The Who, Hendrix, Santana, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc. ..you get the point. But, for some reason, this was the only Disco Song I took a liking to. Still sounds great 40+ years later.
Reminds me of the Pittsburgh Pirates 1979 and the World Series win The city of Champions, Steelers won their 4 superbowl. Those where the days.
this and My Sharona were the big songs that year
Fucking great song!!
Motown was great all the performers!
He’s the greatest dancer is a banger as well.
No vicars were stapled in the making of this video
My mom is one of 8. Every family party, her and all her sisters, sister in laws, and their daughters all get up and dance to this song. When my wife and I got married, the DJ played this at the reception. My mom and every female on that side of the family got up and started dancing, and made this huge deal about my wife walking on the dance floor to dance with them.
One of my favorite memories.
Love this song but I can’t help but think of the ending of The Birdcage every time I hear it. Lol
