What is even the point of doing this? Why not put the game on the disk that’s being sold? It’s not like it would cost more, and I imagine it would save a bunch of money server-side.
Why on earth would you line up at midnight anymore? the days of their being limited copies at a store are over, but i guess i dont count in this conversation anymore as i abandoned consoles about 5 years ago.
expecting the entire game to be on there is an old and almost inconcievable concept. only blueray can hold the 150 gigs that is required for this game and that would mean that
A: the disc itself would become too expensive &
B: blu ray tranfer speed is around 50MB/s, that would impact the games performance masively.
What good old times? Downloading 100gb takes me under 30 minutes, which is less than it would take to read from a disc.
10 years ago it would’ve taken me well over 10 hours.
God it just used to be such a great feeling to hold that little disc box for the first time, knowing you were gonna take it home and spend endless hours enjoying the game alone and with friends. You held in your hands, a literal excitement box. I’ll forever miss that feeling. But damn am I so pleased I lived through the golden era of gaming.
Depression.
day one update?
So physical CDs are now just installers. Doesnt contain game data?
Oh no, it’ll take a full 20 seconds to download that 73mb update!
inb4 “these servers are awful! Practically unplayable!”
What’s the point of a physical disc anymore
Lol imagine seeing the line of suckers outside a store nowadays waiting for a physical disc at launch
F to everyone who bought a ps5 with a blu ray drive.

This isn’t anything new lol been this way for a while
I’m confused
You were able to download the game in advance
If physical console games are just turning into digital downloads now, then that incentivises me to just stick to PC lol
Wow that is cheap and pathetic of them. Guess they found another way to say “actually you don’t own the game”

I don’t usually find this to be the case with other genres, just the **yearly** FPSs and Sports titles.
cd’s.
can.
only.

you’d need 215 of them.

Switch owners: 🍷
Why the hell do they make physical copies that aren’t… PHYSICAL?!
‘thank you for purchase, pls come back next week when the game fully downloaded ‘

Can someone please explain?
Physical disks are much cheaper than downloading anything from ps store.
Don’t buy it.

It takes me two weeks to be able to play any console game. It’s been that way for at least five years. (Rural internet.)
I refunded the game. Holy shit what a mess.
