The mic clip. I went to the channel. It’s in every video. How in the world do you have this level of production and editing, and still keep that prop?
The tobacco analogy falls flat because cigarettes are a luxury versus energy which is a necessity.
You aren’t going to have the same level of public outrage since people do legitimately still need the product; at least until EVs are actually affordable for most people.
The documentary/book Merchants of Doubt does a great job of highlighting how the tobacco, chemical fossil fuel, industries have been misleading people for decades, from paying off lawyers to running bogus stories in the news
A key concept in arguing this premise is the fact that there are mainstream media outlets, radically motivated media outlets and social media. Social media is comparable to the wild west. Anything. Any fiction. Any point of view can be expressed as truth then propagated further through AI bots. It is an insane resource for those seeking responsible reporting. Radically motivated media is only one step above social media. Only, the views expressed have a specific slant. When radical media slides into the internet realm, is is as slimy as any social media outlet. Mainstream media, like its reporting or not, or whether Fearless Leader approves, is based on a set of standards agreed upon by reporters around d the world. Each outlet, each reporter feels the obligation to get the story right. Sure. Mistakes are made. Some editors bow to ideological or political pressure. But for the most part one can go from outlet to outlet and get the same basic story. It is as close to truth as any of us can expect.
