When my son turned 13 I was super excited to show him this movie because I remembered how much I loved it when I saw it in theaters at 13. Partway through the movie he looked at me and asked “Are you sure this movie is appropriate for me!?”
No no it wasn’t appropriate. But I guess the 80’s were a different time when assault and rape were just funny little jokes.

My favorite part is how much the coach cares about his team winning the homecoming carnival and keeping control of the student council. Most coaches wouldn’t really want their guys spending game week working on a skit for the talent show or getting drunk and trying to ride a tricycle. John Goodman is LIVID when the nerds win.
Anytime I’m arguing with my wife and I realize I was wrong, I promptly apologize and say “Sorry for snapping at you Gilbert” and she reply’s with “Its okay Lewis”
Have watched this movie lately? Between the straight up sexual assault, b&e, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the jocks come out as the good guys by the end.
If I had a dime for every time we are driving on the highway and one of my kids asked “Are we there yet?” and I’d reply “Got the cruise control set at 35…”
