  • It’s strange, seeing how much the Bond franchise has changed based on this one film. No special song written just for the film, only travelling to one exotic location, the fact that Bond makes it clear that he’s outright scared…

    Interesting thing about that point on location. Dr No was adapted first compared to Casino Royale for the big screen for two reasons, and location was one of them – they only had a budget of a million dollars (just under ten-million today) so they couldn’t afford on-site shooting in multiple countries and Dr No was the only Bond novel set in only one country.

    The other is that Casino Royale was already adapted for TV as part of a series of one-off TV movies, with a slightly different ending (Bond managed to save Vesper Lynd).
