I remember in the 70s my parents hosting many church gatherings like this in their basement bar room. Not quite sure why the guests had to place their keys in a pineapple shaped bowl, I’m thinking if your key was picked you won a fun gift?
Eleanor is already on her third tumbler of Seven and Seven and is too drunk to be as embarrassed as she should be…wearing white after Labor Day. I mean, really!
No wonder Bob works all that overtime at the mill, then drinks as soon as he gets home. Look at her! With her cheap pearls and those tacky Woolworth’s earrings. Ugh, she’s a mess! My kids won’t even trick-or-treat at her house.
Reminds me of my Grandma Marion. She used to smoke cigarettes and gripe about Vietnam and Nixon. And there was always some kind of molded jello fruit salad with dinner. 🤢
Lawzy, my 5 year self is getting smacked in the face with all that Marlboro smoke! This could be my granny’s kitchen in the early 70’s and her friends would be sporting the same glorious polyester double-knit and teased Aqua Net hair. I’ll bet the ladies in this picture made great casseroles (and cocktails) for their monthly potluck suppers!!!
Bang on for my HS buddies gran. She loved Tom Jones and once threw her panties on the stage. She was funny as hell too. Man, I’d have dinner at his house and it always like grilled steaks w onions and mushrooms and all the sides. Even a couple michelobes (we were 16). Fucking dame.
This is my aesthetic.
Aka…the lineup
Keys in the fishbowl, gentlemen
Honestly, the conversation is absolute fire with women like that. I’d love to be invited to one of those parties back then
They’re probably all in there mid-50s!
Every time I see people with cigarettes from these days I wonder: WTF were they thinking? But nobody really knew the dangers back then.
My mom could’ve been one of these women. Died of cancer in her 60s
These women are all 27 years old in this picture. You see what cigarettes and cocktails do to you, kids?

2 of them are probably Kids in the Hall cast members trying to blend in.

I remember this.
You know they’re cool cuz they are wearing ~~pants~~ slacks.
Classic!!! This could have been a party at my parents’ house with my mom’s friends and my aunts.
It’s a man, baby.
As God is my witness, that’s Dean Martin (second from left).
Looks like one of those pictures from “The Good Fellas”
they’re probably all 50 years old here
Badass lol…the lady in white looks like an old dude dressed as a grandma for Halloween
I’ll always remember my grandma with a Parliament in one had and a whisky sour in the other!
Those ladies lived through some shit.
Great Depression, WW2, civil rights, man on the moon, Woodstock, disco was just coming on.
It’s sad how many people have died from cigarettes! I lost both of my parents to lung cancer and emphysema. 🙁
Pictures you can smell

They’re all 35

thats mr bean
Even tho they smoke and drink they look much more healthier than today’s grannies
It’s just the hairdos and outfits, they are actually in their 30’s
The second looks like MrBean! No way!
And their bottles of Valium in the purse. Looks just like my mother!

And they are probably 30 years old
I got Golden Girls vibes
Back when smoking was healthy.
And most of their clothing was double-knit polyester.
Plot twist: none of them are older than 39.
This is what my family functions looked like in the 90s
Oh ya, vodka gimlets and gin & tonics with Benson & Hedges
The one on the left is checking her unit!
Hi sweetie (in that lovable raspy voice)
5 O’clock cocktails and valium.
‘When am I going to get a grand child?’
Average age: 35
Enough chit-chat, let’s dish up that casserole!
