Is that Prague?
Every song a banger. It’s a great album.
First CD I ever bought. First concert I ever went to.
I wish Michael was still with us. Man I would love to hear what they would’ve been doing all this time.
Prague, Charles Bridge
Rip michael
What’s striking to me is how modern this video is, it could have been shot last week.
Prom theme my junior year. The girl I went with dumped me 2 weeks later.
I went to the concert in high school, at the Meadowlands, or was it called Brendan Byrne back then?? I loved INXS, great show.
Several years ago there was a reality show on tv looking for a replacement for Michael. I remember who won. Did they ever tour or release new music after that?
It was a New Sensation
I am very glad I was of an age to appreciate this music when it was coming out. Love is great, sex is heaven, we are the Class of 87.
That Drums…

INXS … one of the greatest Aussie bands. Up there with Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel, Hoodoo Gurus.
I’ll never tire of this song.
The Boys are hungover in this video.
Hutch
I saw them at mcnichols arena in Denver, then he died right after that, it was weird.
While “Kick” is amazing. I’ll take “Listen Like Thieves” over it any day.
I believe they would have been one the biggest bands in the 90s, bigger than U2. Such a tragic loss.
Saw them during the Kick tour in Vancouver B.C. This is the only dude that had enough sex appeal for women to go unconscious and get carried out. I distinctly remember him straddling what looked like a safety fence (this was a long time ago) and we counted nine females getting carried out. A close second was George Michaels final concert in Vancouver. Fuck….I miss those dudes. Billy Idol back in the eighties had that appeal too.
Fantastic group
Too bad he died we could use their music.
Man that dude had great hair
I remember saving up my money and buying this for my mom for Christmas.
She sees this little package under the tree. She’s thinking it’s some kind of makeup or something. Then she rips the paper off and sees the cassette box. And then for about 20 seconds straight, all I hear is:
shit, shit, SHIT!
I don’t think I’ve ever topped that gift. She wore that tape out playing it all the time.
(maybe it’s time to upgrade it to a CD…)
One of the greatest bands ever! I count myself as super fortunate to have seen them in concert in ‘87.
That saxophone solo. Epic.
*Listen Like Thieves has entered the chat*
I had Michael’s hair and broody vibe back then but now look like the old dude with the hat at 1:20.
Chris Thomas doesn’t get enough credit for producing this album.
The choices he made for the overall sound are brilliant.
It’s wide and airy and bright and empty between the spaces. Each instrument is very specifically separated and placed around the sound stage.
Such a distinct sound and feel. Amazing to get such a cohesive feel on a diverse musical record like this.
I saw them on this tour with P.I.L. Opening up
Was a college DJ at this time and was absolutely blown away by this album. Still one of my favorites.
Why did saxophone solos ever go out of style?
Growing up my best friend was a Jehovah’s Witness. He asked his parents for a Guns and Roses album. Well that wasn’t going to happen in such a strict household so they bought him INXS: Kick instead. He ended up trading it to me for the Guns and Roses album he wanted. Great album and a good trade.
I miss the cinematography of a well made music video
Picked up this album on my 14th birthday a few months after it was released… oh man, if only I knew how much of a musical influence it was going to be on me over the next decade. Wore out 3 cassette tapes, had to buy the CD twice and now have 3 copies on vinyl (including a MoFi version). Saw them live on the Kick tour in May of ’88 when they came through Canada, so memorable. Michael Hutchence taking his life in Nov. 1997 broke my heart and Inxs was never the same after that.
They were already massive in Australia before Kick as they had quite a few great albums after.
If you get the chance listen to Shabooh Shabbah, The Swing (my favourite) and Listen Like Thieves.
They are all top class albums.
What a time capsule of an absolutely gorgeous city at the end of a perilous era and a band and magical singer at the height of his powers. This made me want to go to Prague.
My parents are clean freaks and when I would wake up on the weekends back in the early 2000’s hearing this song blasting on the tower of audio gear we had in the living room next to our tv that weighed about 300 pounds. I knew my weekend was fucked and all I was doing that weekend was heavy heavy cleaning.
The video is timeless. Has aged well
If you are a GenXr and this isn’t in your top 5 you must turn in your Members Only jacket.
