[Trailer out tomorrow!](https://twitter.com/neonrated/status/1656328400083075072)
Why would anyone watch this when American version exist?
/s
I thought there was a 4K restoration just a couple years ago?
true kino
The original is one of the best films I’ve ever seen.
I booked an immersive theatre showing of Oldboy and only got let out 15 years later
the first one is a classic! cant believe they’re making a part 2

I haven’t seen this or the american version but I think I know a big spoiler. Is it still worth watching?
Not that anyone should care but this is my favourite film of all time. And I’ve seen classic Hollywood movies, Ozu, Truffaut, Wong Kar-Wai and so on.
I just see it as the perfect film. You want action? The one-shot hammer scene is one of the best out there? You want thriller with surprises? You’ll never guess the plot twist? You want romance? There is one, albeit “unconventional”. You want to be disgusted? The vegan main actor actually eats a live squid.
20 years? I feel like an oldman
“What a classic. Let’s break the fangs off and ruin every part of what makes this brave new story worth watching.”
– Spike Lee
Still the best Korean movie of all time
Unforgettable
Hell yes. I guess that explains why it was taken off streaming/purchase.
Nice, has been on my watchlist for so long but can never find it on a streaming service. So hyped I’ll get to see it in theaters for my first watch!
Oh good. Basically the only way I would watch it again. Thanks. I think.
This is one of the few times I’ve seen something’s anniversary and thought it was actually older than that.
Between this, *Stop Making Sense*, *Pi*, and *The Doom Generation* getting theatrical restoration releases, it’s a good year to be a film nerd
The original manga this was adapted from was ass
No I’m serious, shit got wild at the end. Don’t read it. I’m talking hypnotic possession level of tomfoolery,
Hopefully this means it will get a physical/digital release? It’s not really easily available anywhere in the US at the moment. I had to order an old DVD from the library to rewatch it.
I might be able to finally watch this movie? I cannot find this anywhere.
This movie and Requiem for a Dream are the two movies that made me just go for a walk and not talk to anybody for a while.
I still can’t believe I saw this movie at 13 lol. I loved it but my uncle who took me to see it so I could get in stopped reading the subtitles halfway through, so explaining the plot to him was a little awkward.
This movie was god damn bananas.
I just like sharing this anecdote with people and this is as good a place as any. My dad is an immigrant from Korea, and I like to pick Korean movies to watch with him – think as a father-daughter bonding experience. Yes, you read that right. I picked this movie, sight unseen. My dad was not a fan. More precisely, he said the director was a monster who should be dragged into the street and shot for making this movie. This is a very funny story today that was not funny right when the movie ended.
The villain in this movie might be the biggest hater in all of cinema. It’s a contest between him and Agent Smith.
Yessss
I’m so glad this is just a re-release and not a remake or a sequel. Imagine if someone tried remaking Oldboy, maybe for an American audience for example, that could only go well…
I’ve been wanting to find this movie on digital for the longest time. Saw it for the first time ages ago when it was free on Vudu. Definitely gonna watch this when it’s re-released
Such a great film, I should rewatch it, great fights scenes, brilliant plot
Is this getting a home video release as well? Only real option is the region-locked Arrow release.
Best Hallway fight scene ever, Daredevil season 1 has a good one too but not near as brutal
Does that mean this is going to get a physical or digital release? I’ve been looking for my own copy forever.
I’ve seen it, I won’t watch it again
Cool, I’ve never seen it before. When is it playing?
They should do a double feature of old boy and requiem for a Dream.
Movie was way better than the comic.
Until Hollywood figures out how to get people excited about new movies again, turning multiplexes into higher resolution Plex servers might be the way forward.
This film fucked so hard . I was fucking shaking by the end of it . Never seen and probably never will see the American version
Let’s go! Hopefully due to NEON’s relationship with Criterion it gets a 4K Blu-ray through them!
Do we know when the screenings will happen?
I mean this sincerely – can someone please explain why people think this film is so good? I’ve seen the original and it did not come close to the hype.
My favourite movie of all time and the most expensive dvd in my collection by far
