Oh, the things my daughter never got to experience…
We had one in a city park. It had to be at least 20 or so feet from the ground (it was part of a structure that had monkey bars, swings, and little roofed platform where you exited from by the slide). It is crazy to think about now. It was very cool. The whole neighborhood was on it all day, all night. The slide also had a dip in the center.
We used to get waxed paper from home to rub on the slide to make it even faster! I saw so many kids get busted up on that thing (I did, too). Hitting the dip so fast some bounced right off the slide. Lots of rough landings. Plenty of skinned knees, elbows, bloody lips.
The classic burn your backside slide during the summer
Play grounds back then, pure death traps but damn we had fun!
Are they waving to the Helicopter Parents? Oh wait, this was 1974.

It was freaking awesome!
No one ever considered a lawyer…
It doesn’t exist anymore.
