Our sisters ..if you look past the bullshit you will see the people of Iran our truly our brothers and sisters. We have to stop twisting things about who the good guys and bad guys are

And they lose, so sad
Fun fact: In the 60s and 70s, Iran was the West’s party country, the same way they now flock to Prague for parties.
I’ve always wonder what the people in Iran felt during the transition from comparatively liberal to extremely conservative and authoritarian. Did they ever fight? What was in their mind? How did they cope with it? etc etc
And then 2019 Hong Kong. First hand experience.
When I was a kid there were several Iranian refugees living in my town, a couple of the women worked at my school, I didn’t know what a hijab was until I was like 14, they never wore them.
Why are upvotes muted on comments on posts like this? I haven’t been an active part of Reddit for long and have noticed that happen on a lot of political-style posts, but not all. Talk about a subtle form of censorship
Ladies, your rights can and will be taken away from you by religious assholes, if you let them.
where are these today? they need to regroup and demolish their awful leaders
Finally after 40 years, the hijab is starting to lose its grip on Iranian women.
Many have died for it, Mahsa Amini was just one of many. But after 40 years women are going out in public without the hijab.
I never thought I’d see it in my lifetime. That’s how brutal that regime is and they do it all in the name of Islam.
How did this work out?
Did the protest work?
What happened there is happening in the US right now. Religious extremists attempting minority rule and removing anything that offends their conservative ideology from existence.
“This chicken stands with McDonald’s”
Said it before and I’ll say it again. The Iranian Revolution is one of the dumbest most self destructive events in the 20th century.
Religious conservatives got mad at all this freedom that was being “shoved down their throats”….
That went well
That’s a lot of stones…
Why’s it Grayscale? We had color in 1979.
Remember guys, these religious nuts came to power after USA organized a coup against a democratic Iran because they didn’t want to use the USD and appointed some lame ass puppet dictator.
How did iran went from this to islamic country?
Such beautiful and intelligent women oppressed for decades. Even a few weeks before, a young lady was killed in public for not wearing the hijab.
However much I want to be openminded towards the kinder side of the Islamic population. The Radical Islamists ruin any good they actively do, they truly are the cancer of the middle east
Iran is a classic example of ‘be mindful what you wish for’. Many in Iran and the West complained and protested against the Shahs Govts lack of democracy, Khomeini was held up and reverred as a modern day Ghandi, a figurehead for the opposition groups to rally behind. We can all see how that turned out for ordinary Iranians. I’d wager a great many of the people in this picture were out protesting against the Shah a few months prior to picture and reflected the Shah wasn’t as bad as what we have now.
I am really happy to see that a lot of Persian nowadays are against their government. I hope we can see them going back to being a secular democracy. Too many people have been murdered for opposing the Ayatollah.
I thought hijab was a choice?
It’s an incredibly toxic religion, all religions are, but the leaders of this specific church don’t need to be running more ‘countries’
Iran was a blooming democracy before the US and the UK decided to put a dictator in charge of Iran… Then the people with the support of the clergy revolted against the dictator… and that’s why Iran today is a West hating theocracy.
Iran was always pretty liberal, until USA and uk decided to poke their nose into the matters and overthrow the democratically elected government to put their puppet in charge in a way to “westernize” the country even more.
The result? More radicalization more extremism, more anti-west sentiment and that led to the Islamic revolution.
So women if you have anyone to blame for what’s happening in Iran, you should know who to, they are not your savior, the opposite.
a look into the past for Iran and a look into the future for women in America under theocratic law
FYI this all happened because the US installed a dictator that was more open to trade and oil deals with the US.
#ReligionRuinsEverything
Sad, knowing it got them nothing.
