rest in peace soldier
RIP my dear friend… My girlfriend at the time (now wife of 5 years with our 1st child) took me to GameSpot at midnight since my car was in the shop. Took the next day off from work with AC Blackflag in hand.

Amazing how well built these consoles are when taken care of. I gamed on this and used it as a central hub from PlayStationVue to currently YouTubeTV. I got my PS5 on release. However, this was still used in my living room in an old school “dumb” TV. PS5 in the basement.
Recently upgraded my 10 year old Plasma TV to a new Sony 65in, so this is no longer needed to stream anything. I mean she still works but unfortunately no need.
I also had a Playstation (not purchased on release) OG PS2 (On release) & PS3 (on release) that lasted well past when the new system came out each time. Here’s to hoping my PS5 can do the same for the next 5-7 years.
Always remeber to well ventilate and clean your systems. They last so long that way!
End of an era 🫡
Honestly consoles that last 10+ years were 100% worth their money, Ive a ps3 for a bit more than 10 years now and its still deathly quiet and runs any game without stuttering. Beautiful beasts is what these are.
Stop making me feel old
RIP🪖🫡
Press F to Pay Respects.
May it’s jet engines spin no more.
Thank you for your service
Let it sleep and let the ps5 wake up
It’s not retired, it’s just resting. Give it another 10 years and you’ll be going back to it as a “retro” system.
Just traded mine in for a tiny bit of credit towards a PS5
Mine started spitting out disks about a year into service mid game.
It’s also the first console I’ve ever owned that had games just crash. Like yeah, some games you could hard lock under specific circumstances, but ps4 was the first system where I’d just be playing and suddenly get an OS message like I was trying to game on windows vista.
The controller had the shortest battery life I’d ever seen. It claimed to have a wireless controller but if you unplugged it it only lasted 5-6 hours, compared to the ps3s 40-50 hour controller I charged weekly instead of daily. Plus it had that LED light you could turn down, but not off, for whatever reason. It removed pressure sensitive buttons too because why the fuck not? It’s also the only controller I’ve owned besides the n64 to have the analog sticks break. Went through 3 controllers in 3 years.
Plus it introduced paying to play games online. Joy! How nice of them to let me pay for a previously free service. How wasn’t this an Xbox again?
I ended up trading it in for a 2DS. This hunk of shit totally killed PlayStation for me. Nothing but bad experiences and bad memories. I hope the ps4 and Xbox one generation is the worst console generation I ever have to live through because boy, that was some rough shit.
…10?
Do you know what’s wrong with it, because some of the ps4 issues are a super easy fix. They made the hard drive so easy to swap out and that fixes my old ps4 in under an hour.
Have you taken it GameStop to see if they can fix it? I thought mine had died (which I guess it did, the hard drive went out), but GameStop fixed it for $75. It took less than two weeks to get it back. Just thought I’d share if you’re still wanting to keep your PS4.
Its watch has ended.
F in the chat 🫡
You have my condolences. Mine is about that age. Keeps having the odd crash.
Damn, feel that. On Sunday my original Xbox one I got on my birthday back in August 2014 gave up the ghost as well
PS4 still feels so new to me, time flies forreal
Mine is still running well. My launch day PS3 only gave up about a year ago.
Rest in piece, soldier. You have served well.
Wait? 10 years?! Jesus ps4 are that far back
I recently upgraded to a ps5. I’ve had a ps4 and an old Panasonic Viera Plasma TV for years (TV goes back to 2006)
bought a ps5 and a Bravia X90L. underestimated how big the ps5 is/feels compared to the ps4; the 4 wasn’t broken but I felt like an upgrade was due
10 years on and I still haven’t saved enough to buy a PS4.
Rip soldier you will always be remembered
My 10 year old ps4 pads batteries last longer than my couple months old ps5 pad lmao ayy
you did well soldier
Happy retirement buddy
That’s a good run. But the cool thing about the PS5 is that it fully compatible with the PS4 put of the box, so you’re not really loosing anything! Moving you backups is a breeze, and you’ll feel the difference in the performance. PS5 is a worthy successor.
Good memories. Here’s to more Happy gaming!
Clean it!
“Was I a good Playstation?”
“No; I was told you were the best Playstation.”
*Shutsdown*
… How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh
Outweigh the bad
…And I’ll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterdayihhh
mine is still going strong

Can always slap in a cheap SSD and she’ll perk right up, good way to breath new life into one.
Design-wise PS4 was my fav console!
Rest in (spare) parts
I salute you ^_^
End of Watch, old friend
Take the cover off, let me see inside. My original ps4 sounded like a harrier jump jet.
